Saddle Stitching and Folding

Saddle stitching is the most widely used binding method for brochures, programmes, magazines and thin catalogues. The document is folded and stapled in the spine fold, producing a clean, professional result at an attractive price.

The method is ideal for printed matter with up to around 64 pages and is used widely for everything from event programmes and product catalogues to corporate brochures and newsletters. Saddle-stitched products lie nicely flat and have a compact format that is easy to distribute.

XL Print combines saddle stitching with precise folding so your printed matter folds sharply and accurately. We can produce in both standard and custom formats with short lead times.

Stitching: Spine-fold stitching with stainless steel staples. Up to around 64 pages (16 sheets) depending on paper thickness.

Paper: Cover typically in 200-300 g/m² coated paper, contents in 100-170 g/m². Available in matte, gloss and uncoated.

Formats: A4, A5, A6, DL and custom formats. Portrait and landscape formats possible.

Saddle-stitched products are easy to recycle, as they consist primarily of paper with minimal metal staples. We recommend FSC-certified paper for the most sustainable solution.

The production process is efficient with minimal waste, and we optimise paper use through intelligent setup and nesting of printed matter on the press sheets.
