Lamination

Lamination is a finishing process where a thin plastic film is laminated to the surface of your printed product. The result is improved feel, added durability and a visually striking finish that lifts your printed matter to a higher quality level.

At XL Print we offer several lamination types: Matte lamination gives a soft, muted surface with a sophisticated feel. Gloss lamination enhances colours and adds a touch of luxury. Soft-touch lamination creates a velvet-smooth surface that invites touch.

Lamination is ideal for business cards, brochures, book covers, packaging, folders and other printed matter that must withstand handling and appear exclusive. The protective film prevents scratches, fingerprints and moisture damage.

Lamination types: Matte film, gloss film, soft-touch film (also known as "velvet" or "silk"), anti-fingerprint film. Film thickness typically 15-30 micron.

Application: Single- or double-sided lamination. Applied with heat and pressure for permanent bonding to the print surface.

Compatibility: Recommended for paper from 200 g/m² and up. Can be combined with spot UV, embossing and sleeking for extra effect.

Lamination adds a thin plastic layer, which makes the product harder to recycle as pure paper. We therefore also offer biodegradable lamination films as a more environmentally friendly alternative.

XL Print advises on when lamination is necessary versus alternative surface treatments such as UV varnish, which can be more environmentally friendly in certain applications. We always choose the thinnest effective films to minimise plastic use.

Yes, we deliver across Denmark via reliable freight partners and also offer pickup. For larger projects we offer direct delivery and on-site installation — including outside Denmark.

What is the difference between digital print and offset print?

Digital print needs no plates and is ideal for smaller runs, personalisation and fast delivery. Offset is most economical at large runs. At XL Print we work primarily with digital print, but we can also offer offset print jobs.
