Perfect Binding

Perfect binding is the preferred binding method when you want a professional, book-like finish for your printed matter. The pages are glued into the spine and mounted in a cover that can be either soft or hard — ideal for reports, catalogues, manuscripts, manuals and books.

The method is suited to documents with larger page counts, typically from 40 to several hundred pages. Perfect binding creates a clean, tight spine without visible staples or spirals, producing an exclusive and professional appearance.

XL Print offers perfect binding with full-colour printed covers on heavy board. We can produce both softcover (paperback) and hardcover for particularly prestigious publications. All formats from A6 to A4 are possible.

Binding: Hotmelt or PUR glue for optimal durability. PUR glue is recommended for coated paper and heavy publications for maximum strength.

Cover: Softcover in 250-350 g/m² coated board with optional lamination. Hardcover for prestige publications.

Contents: 80-170 g/m² paper, coated or uncoated. Minimum spine thickness approximately 2 mm (around 40 pages).

Perfect bound products consist primarily of paper and can be recycled via paper collection. We recommend PUR glue, which provides stronger binding and therefore extends the product's life — which is itself a sustainable benefit.

Cover and contents can be printed on FSC-certified paper. XL Print ensures efficient use of materials and minimises waste in the production process.

What is the difference between digital print and offset print?

Digital print needs no plates and is ideal for smaller runs, personalisation and fast delivery. Offset is most economical at large runs. At XL Print we work primarily with digital print, but we can also offer offset print jobs.
